Celebrating Oman’s National Day

Not long ago, a friend posted on Facebook:

Help needed. My daughter has a school project. "Make a collage of what people think of when you think of Oman". Keep it clean, people, she's only 10!

Some friends replied:

Sands, mountains, camels, Toyota

Bedouin camps in funny little wadis, secluded wadi pools, the Eloise shell

Big spiders and scorpions! Eeek!

Camping, beaches, Al-Fair, Sultan Centre, dates, dishdasha

Grand mosque, old villages and forts, souks, sand dunes

Frankincense, amazing beaches, sandstorms, black and white dress code, taxis, dates

.....

The Sultanate of Oman celebrates its 43rd National Day today.
For most expats, Oman has connotations of a safe haven compared to other nations in the Gulf. It is a peaceful country despite its proximity to more volatile regions.
The people of this country have fiercely guarded their traditions while adapting to a modern way of life. They adore and respect their wise ruler, Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

Happy National Day to all Omanis and people who love Oman!
